Gutters and downspouts form the drainage system that collects water from your roof and directs it safely away from your home's foundation. Seamless aluminum gutters have become the industry standard, custom-fabricated on-site to the exact length of each roof run — eliminating the joints that are prone to leaking in sectional gutter systems. Standard residential gutters are 5-inch K-style, with 6-inch options for high-volume areas. Downspouts connect the gutter troughs to ground-level drainage, spaced every 30-40 feet of gutter run.

Why It Matters

A typical Bay Area home collects 15,000-25,000 gallons of water from its roof during a normal rainy season. Without functioning gutters and downspouts, that water cascades off the roof edge directly onto the soil adjacent to your foundation — causing erosion, foundation settling, basement moisture, and landscape damage. Improperly sized or clogged gutters are nearly as bad as having none at all. We size gutters based on your roof area and pitch, local rainfall intensity, and downspout placement to handle peak Bay Area storms without overflow.

What are seamless gutters and why are they better?

Seamless gutters are fabricated on-site from a continuous coil of aluminum, cut to the exact length of each roof run. Unlike sectional gutters that are pieced together from 10-foot sections, seamless gutters have no joints along their length — eliminating the most common source of gutter leaks. The only seams are at corners and downspout connections.

How often should gutters be cleaned in the Bay Area?

At minimum twice per year — once in late fall after leaves drop and once in early spring. Homes near oak, pine, or redwood trees may need quarterly cleaning. We also recommend gutter guards for heavily treed properties, which reduce (but do not eliminate) the need for cleaning.
